PURPOSE:To cold roll a molten alloy to a ribbon shape having smooth surfaces and an uniform wall thickness with fresh roll surfaces by disposing an antiscattering plate in proximity to a molten metal nozzle opening in the press contact parts of a pair of rolling rolls and moving the same in the axial direction of the rolls with the nozzle. CONSTITUTION:In the beginning of blowing out of molten metal, the molten metal is blown out into a prescribed position where the metal is rolled and cooled. When the paddle of the molten metal is produced, a nozzle 3 and a shielding plate 4 is moved to make the molten metal blown through the nozzle continuous to the paddle in the axial direction of the roll, whereby the cooling and rolling are continued. In the case of using the areas on both front and rear side in the axial direction of the rolls for the rolling and cooling during normal rolling with respect to the initial position of the nozzle 3, a pair of the shielding plates 4 are disposed before and behind the nozzle 3 and during blowing out of the molten metal, the molten metal is rolled and cooled at the center of the roll pair; thereafter the shielding plates are moved in an arbitrary direction together with the nozzle 3. |
