Die neue chemische Verbindung N,N,N'-Trimethyl-N'-2-hydroxyethyl-propylendiamin wird durch Umsetzung von Dimethylaminopropylamin und Ethylenoxid und nachfolgender Reaktion des gebildeten N,N-Dimethyl-N'-2-hydroxyethyl-propylendiamin mit Formaldehyd unter Druck in Gegenwart von Wasserstoff und Nickelkatalysatoren hergestellt. N,N,N'-Trimethyl-N'-2-hydroxyethyl-propylendiamin dient als Katalysator zur Herstellung von Polyurethanen, wo es im Vorlauf der Polymerisation mit in die Makromoleküle eingebaut wird.
