PURPOSE:To automatically detect a flatted wheel in travelling, by detecting impulse waves due to wheel weight bearing on a rail and wheel trend flat. CONSTITUTION:A detector 4 for tensile force and compression force due to the elastic deformation of a rail 3 is fitted to the lower part of the rail 3. If a flat is formed by the deformation of the trend of a wheel 2, the detector detects an impulse wave due to the flat. The impulse wave is superposed to a basic wave due to wheel weight as shown in a figure (a). By shaping the waveform at a prescribed threshold, a pulse (b) indicating the passage of the wheel and a pulse (c) indicating the passage of the flat are obtained. Consequently the shaft number of the flatted wheel can be detected from both the pulses in a car in travelling. |
