The invention relates to a method for controlling the rotation speed of a machine having a multiple of three phases, via a current-controlled converter. In order to save a considerable number of converter components in this case, a star-connected n-phase invertor is used as the frequency adjusting element and a star-connected, n-phase machine having a multiple of three phases, and whose neutral conductor is passed out, is used as the load. In this case, each phase of the machine having a multiple of three phases is connected to an invertor phase. The intermediate circuit direct current is connected to the individual machine carriers via the invertor and is carried away again via the machine's neutral conductor.
