A method of laterally displacing a load suspended on a travelling crab, effective damping of the load oscillation being possible even when the load is raised or lowered during the acceleration phases. The speed change of the travelling crab during the acceleration or deceleration takes place in two acceleration phases which are generally of different duration and have constant acceleration values. A phase of constant speed lies between the two acceleration phases. The method according to the invention does not require the angle of deflection THETA of the oscillation to be measured. <IMAGE> |
