The spacing device has a spacer (1) and, detachably connected thereto, pipe connecting pieces (2) having a sheath (25). The sheath is intended to produce good sound insulation, for which reason it is produced from a relatively soft elastomer and is mounted removably on the fitting (20) by means of a covering cap (40). The spacer (1) has plug-in openings (4, 7) and mounting holes (9), as a result of which the pipe connecting pieces (2) can be firmly screwed to the spacer (1), in different positions, by means of screws (10). This results in more versatile installation and connection possibilities to the supply pipelines for a wall-mounted tap assembly, for cold and hot water. <IMAGE>
