In a recording arrangement for simultaneously recording a broad line diagram to be read by the human eye and an extremely thin line diagram to be exclusively microscopically evaluated, a multilayer record carrier comprising a metallic covering layer and an underlying intermediate layer which is plastically deformable by heat and pressure is moved beneath a spring mounted rigid spark electrode with a rounded point which burns through the metallic layer to form the broad line diagram and impresses the thin line diagram in the underlying plastically deformable intermediate layer by a combination of heat and pressure. The arrangement is used in vehicle tachographs.
