The object of the device is to make precision measurements available fully automatically to the bowler, to increase the accuracy of decisions in competition, and to permit optimisation of training activity. The system permits the digital or analogue analysis of: a) passage to right or left, b) exact position of the target to right or left of the centre, c) speed of the ball in meters/second or centimeters/second, d) overstepping (foul shot). The system can be installed in any existing installation. Essential components according to the drawing - Figure 1 - are: two light barriers and a display panel with built-in electronics. The function of this installation is essentially determined by the beam path (S1, S2 and S2.1). The position of the target is determined from the running time on the path X1 . X2 = target position. The speed is calculated from the running time on the path (X1). Overstepping arises from exceeding the interruption period of the beam path (S1). The analysis of passage to right or left is based on the measurement of the target position. <IMAGE>
