A method of securing a valve &c. 14 on the inside or outside of a pressure vessel 11 for fuel gas or an aerosol &c. comprises forming a lip 15 on the element 14, forming an inward or outward depression 22 in the vessel in a single stamping or deep drawing operation, placing the lip 15 in the depression 22 and squashing the depression until its bottom surface is level with the vessel so that the side wall of the depression forms a crimping bead 23A, Fig. 7, around the lip 15. As shown, Fig. 3, the vessel and depression 22 are formed at the same time, by deep drawing dies 17, 18, 19. The internal die 25 for supporting the vessel during the crimping stage, has a recess 29 holding the element 14 and an annular recess 30 in which the bead 23A is formed. Sealing material may be used in the seam, and the element may be fixed to the exterior of the vessel, Fig. 8 (not shown). |
