The control device according to the invention includes for each coordinate of the path curve a counter (2a, 2b), the presetting inputs (E1-En) of which are connected to the memory locations of the path memory (1), containing the starting coordinates. The setting input (s), the incrementing input (i) and the decrementing input (d) of each counter (2a, 2b) is connected to a decoding circuit (3a, 3b), which has a clock input (E5), connected to a clock generator (4), and control inputs (E1-E4). The control inputs (E1-E4) are connected to the memory locations of the path memory (1) containing the relative movements. The decoding circuit switches the clocks of the clock generator (4) in dependence on the content of these memory locations to the incrementing input (i), to the decrementing input (d) or to the setting input (s) of the assigned counter (2a, 2b).
