1,246,322. Supporting railway track. JAMES WALKER & CO. (NEDERLAND) N.V. 13 Sept., 1968 [13 Sept., 1967], No. 43757/68. Heading E1G. In a ballast-free railway track the rails 23, or blocks 22 secured thereto, are adjusted in height and then resiliently secured to a rigid support 20 (e.g. a tunnel floor) by moulding in situ at least one layer of material 29 comprising an elastomer having finely dispersed gas cells formed by foaming, or by a filler of finely granulated cork. As shown each rail 23 is secured to concrete/resin blocks 22 through pads 24, clips 25 and pins 27. In a modification omitting the blocks 22 each rail has its base resiliently bonded to a flat surface-e.g. of a bridge-through laminations of cellular elastomer alternating with plates of rigid material or non-cellular elastomer. In a further modification each rail is secured on .a metal girder structure by having its base and web enclosed in cellular elastomer filling a chamber formed by upstanding welded plates. |
