PURPOSE:To inspect the overall circumference of the opening of a running bottle to be inspected while a projector and a photodetector are both fixed, by lighting up the opening of the bottle in specified section on both sides by beltlike light sources. CONSTITUTION:A bottle 20 to be inspected while rotating on its axis is made run rotatingly by a conveyor line 24, and beltlike light sources 21 installed on both sides of the conveyor line 24 and having diffusion plates 21A on the front surfaces light up the opening of the bottle 20 on both sides. When the opening is not in its image pickup range 27, or when the opening is in the range and has no fault, no reflected light from the beltlike light source 21 travels to a photodetector 22, whose output does not vary. When an opening fault 23 enters into the image pickup range 27, the reflected light from the beltlike light source 21 changes in direction owing to the opening fault 23 and a part of it travels to the photodetector 22, so variation in the output of the photodetector is detected to detect the bottle opening fault 23. |
