<p>An arrangement is provided for controlling the speed of a rotating anode of an X-ray tube in which the anode forms part of the rotor of a single phase motor. The arrangement comprises a power supply circuit 4, which includes a single phase static transistor inverter and pulse width modulator, and a microprocessor-based control circuit 3. The control circuit supplies control signals to the pulse width modulator, in accordance with desired speed of the anode, to control the frequency, voltage, and waveform of the inverter output, which is supplied to the motor stator. The arrangement also controls braking which is effected by applying d.c. to the stator. <IMAGE></p> |
