<p>The I.C engine comprises an annular combustion chamber (1) along the polar axis of which passes a shaft (2) which is fixed to a rotor (4)dc(14) carrying a piston (13) that may be integrally formed. The piston describes a continuous circular motion in the chamber (1) and is powered by expanding combustion products. Fuel/air mixture enters the chamber through an inlet port (9). An ignition port (10) houses a spark plug. The wall of the chamber has a slit (15) which accommodates a circular abutment disc (3) having a cut-away (3'). The disc is rotated by the shaft (2) through gears. A cut away (3') registers with the chamber at the correct point during each cycle to allow the piston (13) to pass through. Exhaust gases are discharged through a port (11).</p> |
