PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head which excels in recording and reproducing characteristics and is suited to a vertical magnetic recording system, by combining the 1st and 2nd cores provided to perform a specific function and a ferromagnetic thin film so as to satisfy a specific relation. CONSTITUTION:Cores 31 and 32 are combined to form a closed magnetic path, and the saturated magnetic flux density Bs1 of the core 31 is smaller than the same density Bs2 of the core 32. At the same time, the core 31 holds a ferromagnetic thin film 33 at the inside. The saturated magnetic flux density Bs3 is larger than the density Bs1 of the core 31. Thus Bs1<Bs2 and Bs1<Bs3 are satisfied, and accordingly, the core 31 is first saturated magnetically. As a result, a main closed magnetic circuit is formed by the core 32 and the film 33. Therefore, if a magnetic head is used in a region having such magnetic flux density with which the core 31 is saturated, a magnetic field having a sudden vertical component is caused in the vicinity of the upper edge of the film 33. Thus recording characteristics are improved to a vertical magnetized film. |
