Improved method and electronic circuit for the analog/digital (A/D) conversion of electric pulses and signal shapes

The improved method essentially comprises the steps of a) subjecting an analog input signal to a diffuse flash conversion; b) adding the digital result of the said diffuse flash conversion to the digital content of a register with sliding scale and converting the result thus obtained into its corresponding analog value by means of a digital/analog converter; c) subtracting the said analog value from the said analog input signal; d) converting the result of the said subtraction by means of a converter with step-by-step approximation into its corresponding digital value, and e) adding the said digital subtraction value to the said digital content of the register with sliding scale. The electronic circuit for implementing the aforementioned method essentially comprises a diffuse flash converter, a converter with step-by-step approximation, a register with sliding scale and a digital adder.
