PURPOSE:To use effectively the wave energy as thrust by combining a plate- formed buoyant body with airfoils so that the thrust countering the wave is generated by incoming waves. CONSTITUTION:A thrust generating device is equipped with a plate-formed buoyant body 2, which can be maintained in a floating condition under the sea level with its upper flat surface in accordance with the sea level, and two airfoils, 4A and 4B, which are supported underwater horizontally with a difinite distance from the lower surface of the buoyant body 2. The plate-formed buoyant body 2 is shaped in rectangular form. At the leading edge of the buoyant body 2 countering incoming waves, a slant surface 6, which rises toward the upper flat surface of the buoyant body 2, is formed, while at the trailing edge of the buoyant body 2 a slant surface 8 is formed leading to the lower flat surface of the buoyant body 2. Each airfoil, 4A or 4B, has a rectangular form whose width is same as that of the buoyant body 2, and its cross section is formed in such a manner that the propulsive resistance is lessened. |
