PURPOSE:To make the extension of the sound field variable and improve the presence, by variably adjusting the direct sound component and the time difference and the level difference of the indirect sound component of stereo signals by using sum differential circuit, delay circuits, and adders. CONSTITUTION:Stereo signals L and R are inputted into a sum differential circuit 3 and a sum signal M+S and a difference signal M-S[where, M= 1/2(L+R) and s=1/2(L-R)]are produced. These signals are delayed by e<jwr> at delay circuits 4a and 4b and introduced to adders 5a and 5b. Therefore, the output of the adder 5a becomes L+(M+S)e<jwr>, and that of the adder 5b becomes R+(M-S)e<jwr>. Of these signals, the 1st term represents the original signals themselves and the 2nd term indicates the extension of the sound field. That is to say, a sound field expanding component is added to the reproduced stereo sound field in addition to the normal acoustic image secured by the original signal components. |
