CHARACTER BROADCAST RECEIVER

PURPOSE:To effectively transmit the information on emergency by displaying character information transmitted with character broadcast as a character picture, synthesizing sound signals corresponding to the character information, outputting the character information as sound and providing the character information even for blind personnel. CONSTITUTION:A character broadcast signals transmitting the character information through coding is received at a tuner 1 and applied to a sound processing circuit 6 and a character broadcast pickup circuit 8 via a video detection circuit 3. The character signals during reception at this circuit are picked up and sequentially stored in a memory 10 via a character signal processing circuit 9. The signal read out from the memory 10 is converted into a signal for display at a character generator 11 and the character information is displayed on a CRT5 via a video processing circuit 4. The signal read out from the memory 10 is synthesized into a sound signal corresponding to the character information at a sound synthesis circuit 12 and the audio corresponding to the character information is outputted from a loud speaker 7 via the circuit 6. The character information can be transmitted even to blind personnel.
