A fabric tube (2) is reinforced in a non-uniform manner by one or more elongate members (6) extending longitudinally within the material of the fabric. In a preferred embodiment elongate carbon fibre tows extend within a glass fibre fabric. The reinforced tube may be used where non-uniform reinforcement is desirable in order to achieve a low strenght/weight ratio - for example in tennis recquets.
