Substance FA-70D represented by formula (1) or salts thereof; a medicinal composition comprising the compound as the active ingredient; a method of treatment for osteoporosis, comprising administering the compound; the use of the compound in drugs; and a microorganism capable of yielding this substance. The compound has a specific inhibitory activity against cathepsin proteases, and is useful as a drug for the treatment of various diseases wherein these enzymes participate, in particular osteoporosis.
