The invention relates to a hand-operated bell, in particular for a bicycle. Known bells have a manual lever and a drive segment which is usually integral with the latter and whose toothing interacts with a gear wheel and which, via the latter, sets in rotation the clapper arranged in the centre of the lower part. The number of moving parts to be mounted and the rest of the drive construction result in a relatively large degree of technical expenditure. This can be reduced according to the invention if the drive segment is fixed to the lower part and if the clapper is rotatably mounted on a part connected to the manual lever. The transmission of force between the drive segment and a rotary pin assigned to the clapper can, inter alia, also be constructed in such a way that the clapper can have the shape of a single-arm rocker whose drive direction changes repeatedly during a swivel movement in the same direction. Furthermore, a greater impact strength of the clapper can also be achieved.
