The invention provides a method and a device for the use of alcohol fuel as fuel for a petrol-driven internal combustion engine. The alcohol (A) and the petrol (G) are each separately vaporised and carburetted from separate tanks (2 and 3) and mixed with air, fed to the plenum chamber (P) of the internal combustion engine (E), in which they are combined with the air with which they are mixed before being fed to the respective combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine (E). The mixing ratio between alcohol (A) and petrol (G) is adjusted by means of a double-acting metering device (8). The petrol (G) is fed conventionally by way of a carburettor (C) to the plenum chamber (P), whilst the alcohol (A) is fed by way of a vaporiser (20). In the vaporiser (20) the alcohol (A) is vaporised by means of hot air (H), which is drawn from the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV), further heated by heat exchange with the exhaust gases and introduced into the vaporiser (20) by means of an air feed nozzle (23) the direction of whose jet lies transversely, preferably perpendicular to the jet direction of an alcohol feed nozzle (22), the outlet for the alcohol-air mixture (A/H) preferably being located in the extended jet direction of the air feed nozzle (23). <IMAGE> |
