PURPOSE:To improve work efficiency by setting an optional error value for given coordinate values, and approximating a free curve with an arc which includes all coordinate points satisfying the error value. CONSTITUTION:An error delta which can be set optionally for prescribed coordinate values p1, p2, p3-pn on a desired free curve is determined previously, and an arc which passes adjacent coordinate points p1, p2, and p3 is calculated by an electronic computer to confirm that the points p1, p2, and p3 are in the area encircled with two arcs obtained by increasing and decreasing the radius r1 of an arc having a center (a, b) by the error value delta. Similarly, two arcs which have a center (a2, b2) and are different in radius r2 by the value delta are calculated for the coordinate points p1, p2, and p4 to confirm that the points p1, p2, p3 and p4 are in the area encircled with the two arcs. Then, one coordinate point is added for every time to decide on a radius and center coordinates for prescribing an arc area. The obtained plural arcs are used to approximate a desired free curve within a error range + or -delta for respective coordinate points. |
