摘要 PURPOSE:To perform speedy, efficient contour extracting by extracting the rough contour of a body from its binary image, finding the center of gravity of the rough contour, and then finding the starting point for tracing a target contour image on the basis of the center of gravity. CONSTITUTION:An input image obtained by a pattern input device 21 is coded by a binary coding circuit 22 into a binary image, which is stored in a binary- coded pattern memory 23. A rough contour extraction part 24 extracts only light/dark change points of the binary pattern and stores them as a rough contour in a rough contour pattern memory 25. A rough contour point coordinate generation part 26 gives coordinates to a rough contour point read out of the memory 25, and they are stored in a rough contour table 27. A gravity-center coordinate calculation part 26 calculates the coordinates of the center of gravity in a closed loop and stores them in a gravity- center coordinate buffer 29. Then, a contour tracing part 31 uses the contents of the buffer 29 and table 27 to detect the coordinates of a trace starting point from the coordinates of the center of gravity, and traces a group of rough contour point coordinates from said coordinates as a starting point to store the result in a traced contour point coordinate table 32. Thus, a contour from which noises, etc., are removed completely is extracted.
