A block consists of an electrically conducting material with a hollow, which is somewhat larger and similar in shape to the eventual die cavity, and which is cladded with a double layer of material the wall thickness of which is equal to the difference between the hollow cross section and the workpiece cross section, one of the two sub layers next to the block consisting of a spark erosion electrode material, from the electrode which was used to form the hollow and one outer layer consisting of the die working surface material. In the prefd. method the electrode is formed by electro deposition of two layers on a master die. The method is inexpensive and simple, requiring an easily made master die.
|
