The dishwasher incorporates a device to remove the remainder of food from the machine. Rinsing liq. is circulated during a rinsing programme to clean dishes and is drawn from an almost round, pot shaoed container sump. The suction socket of an emptying pump is connected to the centre of the floor of the sump. Initially the rinsing liq. in the sump is moved into a circulating flow. Subsequently a part of the liq. together with the particles of food collected in the centre of the sump is suctioned out of the sump. Guide elements (16) directed towards the floor centre for the rinsing liq. are fitted to the sump floor which are made as projecting ribs.
