<p>The system comprises a box attached to the luggage by a lock and chain. The box has a cable attached to it by a removable plug, whilst the other end of the cable is fastened by a clip to the user's clothing. The plug fits into a socket in such a way that its withdrawal closes contacts in the box and operates an alarm. The alarm itself may be an audible signal, or a light. Alternatively, the alarm may incorporate a device ejecting tear gas, or a paralysing gas when it is triggered. In a further alternative the cable link from the alarm to the user may be replaced by a radio link which is able to detect separation of the luggage from its owner.</p> |
