The boiler unit has at least one tray (2) in a housing shell (1), to which tray is assigned an overflow tube (3) projecting over it. In addition, a vapour feed is provided, open to the underneath of the tray and extending to above the liquid level on the tray, which vapour feed is formed in this boiler unit by a plurality of boiler tubes (4) arranged distributed on the tray (2), which boiler tubes initially rise to above the liquid level and then extend over the tray (2) with distributor sections (5) returned beneath the liquid level, which distributor sections have a multiplicity of through-holes (6) in their lower region. As a result, boiling processes are generated on a very large portion of the tray surface and an intensive mixing of the vapours into the liquid occurs. A plurality of such boiler units can be mounted one above the other column-like to give distillation or purification apparatuses. <IMAGE>
