A transmission, intended to transform a reciprocating motion into a rotary motion and vice versa, is characterized by concentric rings (12, 14 and 16) wherein curved grooves (15) have been provided and between which balls (4) in a race (13) establish the connection so as to be able to move axially and radially into each other following the shape of the curve, the rotary motion being transmitted to a shaft (9) or vice versa by balls located in axial grooves (3, 7), provided on one hand inside the inner ring and on the other hand on the shaft or outside a ring mounted on the shaft. Examples of applications: an engine, a pump, a compressor, a press, in short wherever a rotary motion has to be transformed into a reciprocating motion or vice versa, as it is the case with the rod/crank system. |
