PURPOSE:To enhance solvent resistance of a charge generating layer, by using a thermosetting resin as the binder of the charge generating layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermosetting resin, such as urethane, polyester, epoxy, melamine, or silicone, is used as the binder or a charge generating layer for dispersing a phthalocyanine pigment, a auinacridone pigment, or the like into the binder. These pigment are dispersed into the thermosetting resin, a prescribed hardening agent is added to the resin, and the mixture is coated, and heated, resulting in polymerization and hardening. Then, a charge transfer layer is formed on this layer, by coating a film-forming resin dissolved in a solvent, e.g. a ketone, ester, aromatic hydrocarbon, or chlorinated hydrocarbon type. Since the hardened film of the thermosetting resin of the charge generating layer is highly resistant to solvents, the characteristics of this layer is not deteriorated by dissolution when the charge transfer layer is coated. |
