PURPOSE:To improve a performance to separate sheets which are conveyed in an overlapping manner, by constituting a roller for a copying machine, which separates sheets conveyed in an overlapping manner, such that a coefficient of friction and a hardness of a separating roller at a stop side is smaller than those of a drive separating roller, and it can slide and deform elastically. CONSTITUTION:If sheets S, which are conveyed in an overlapping manner, are fed from a feed roller and the forward ends of them enter between separating rollers 3 and 4, the friction of the uppermost sheet with a first separating roller 3 advances the sheet. A coefficient of friction between the sheets and a coefficient of friction between the sheet and a second roller 4 are set to a small value, and thereby, the second and the hollowing sheets are checked to advance. Thus, the second and the following sheets are moved backward in order, and simultaneously, the surface hardness of the second separating roller 4 is set to the degree that it can deform elastically. Thereby, the roller (4) surface is deformed in the shape wherein the sheet is buried, and the second sheet and the followings are completely checked to advance. This permits the reliable separation of the sheet which are conveyed in an overlapping manner. |
