KINGPIN ASSEMBLY AND METHOD FOR MAKING SAME A kingpin assembly is for a steering axle of the type which includes an inner axle member which pivotally supports at a mounting bore in each end thereof a steering knuckle and spindle extending outwardly therefrom. The kingpin includes an upper and lower section and an intermediate section therebetween. The intermediate section is provided with a helically splined outer surface which is rigidly retained within the splined mounting bore by an interference fit therebetween. The rigid upper and lower yoke arms of the steering knuckle are respectively pivotally mounted about the upper section and the lower section of the kingpin.
