PURPOSE:To greatly improve the thermal efficiency of a uniflow scavenging engine, by opening a scavenging control valve when the pressure in the cylinder has become lower than the scavenging pressure, to increase the effective work in the engine. CONSTITUTION:A scavenging control valve 12 is fitted on the peripheral surface of a cylinder liner 10 so that the valve can slide in the circumferential direction. When the detection signal 29 of a cylinder pressure sensor 27 has lower than that 30 of a scavenging pressure sensor 28, a valve 20 is opened by the regulating signal 22 of a controller 26 to push up a piston 24 to open the scavenging control valve 12. As a result, the effective work done by the expanding gas in a cylinder is increased to greatly improve the thermal efficiency of the engine. |
