PURPOSE:To erase unnecessary images securely by providing a slit for projecting unnecessary-image erasing light at a part of the electrode shield of the 2nd charger, and guiding said light into the electrode shield through the slit. CONSTITUTION:An unnecessary-image erasing light source 7 shielded by a shielding member 8 is provided near the 2nd charger 3. To easing a side image and an image between images, unnecessary-image erasing light is guided from said light source 7 into an electrode shield 5 through a slit 5a made in the electrode shield 5 of the 2nd charger 3. Consequently, even when exposure is not carried out simultaneously with charging, an unnecessary image formed at a no-image part is erased securely and said light source is provided closely to the 2nd charger, reducing the space for the light source 7 as compared with a conventional device. |
