<p>Reservoir for holding gases stored at low pressure (not vacuum) comprises an envelope of flexible impermeable material partly filled with a liquid and supported on a plinth smaller in area than the reservoir so that the borders of the reservoir remain clear of the ground underneath the borders. The residual head of liquid trapped in the pendant borders provides the internal storage pressure necessary to discharge the gas. Suitable for formentation, chemical digestion maturation processes, to contain e.g. associated methane from by-products associated with processed sewage, offal, etc. The low wt. and ground loading pressures of the flexible reservoir can be supported on firm ground without needing ancillary foundations. The support may be a rigid bank or concrete structure or may itself be an annular body supported by pneumatic or hydraulic pressure; in the latter case, the centre of the reservoir may within the middle of the support and contain a liquid mass sufficient to stop the reservoir being blow away. The reservoir may also be anchored by overlapping diagonal loop ties. The reservoir body may be made of fabric impregnated and lined with impermeable expanded flexible polyurethane resin, e.g. of the type used for inflatable boats.</p> |
