An apparatus for driving a tunnel consists of a driving machine and tunnel-tube formwork (1, 2). The tunnel-tube formwork (1, 2) forms with the surrounding rock (3) an annular space (4), into which cast-in-situ lining concrete can be pressed, and is composed of inner formwork (1) and annular end formwork (2) coupled to the driving machine via hydraulic cylinder/piston arrangements. The end formwork (2) is provided with a sealing ring (5) arranged towards the annular space (4) and made of an elastic material, in particular rubber. The sealing ring (5) bears with an encircling outer trailing lip (6) against the rock (3) and with an encircling inner trailing lip (7) against the inner formwork (1). In such an apparatus, a satisfactory cast-in-situ lining is obtained if the sealing ring (5) between the trailing lips (6, 7) is designed as a deformable hollow-chamber section (8) supported on the end formwork (2). <IMAGE>
