The invention relates to a noise-damped hydrostatic transmission with a compact hydrostatic unit, comprising a hydraulic pump (16), a hydraulic motor (17) and an associated body (33) with a kidney shaped opening and valve plates (35, 45). This transmission is accommodated in a hydrostatic-unit casing (31, 40, 32) which, for its part, is mounted in an outer casing (30) with the interposition of separating gaps (13, 14) and additional insulating bodies (1, 2, 3, 4). Sound-proofed screwed fasteners (10) can furthermore be used to fasten the hydrostatic-unit casing in the outer casing. By accommodating the noisy body (33) inside the high-pressure casing, good noise insulation is furthermore achieved at the source of noise itself. <IMAGE>
