In an index card filing system (10), the separators (15) supporting respective sets of index cards (16) can be removed from a cabinet in units (19) of three each, unit by unit. By pivoting two feet (25, 26) the individual units can be made free- standing, whichever way the separator members (15) lean. An auxiliary separator member (27), having no index strip unlike separator members (15), supports the set of index cards on the outside of one of the three separator members (15). A base support member prevents the separator member (15 and 27) from falling right over instead of just leaning. The cabinet for units of index cards has rails to prevent the separator members (15 and 27) of remaining units 19 from falling right over instead of just leaning, by engaging protruberances arranged in the sides of the cabinet. <IMAGE> |
