In the device for guiding travelling webs in the transverse direction, a guide roller (4, 11) for the web is mounted in a first frame (2) which in turn is pivotable in a second stationary frame (1) about a pivot axis arranged symmetrically to the travel direction of the web and extending perpendicularly to the plane of the frame. One of the frames (1) bears guide parts (6, 8, 12, 14) with guide tracks which are arranged in a circular arc about this pivot axis (5) and along which guide elements (7, 9, 13, 15) arranged on the other frame (2) are movable. The individual guide elements (7, 9, 13, 15) contact the guide parts (6, 8, 12, 14) in each case on only one guide track which is either internal or external with respect to the common pivot axis (5) and has rolling guide members. <IMAGE>
