In order to facilitate the dry docking of offshore vessels, a floating dock involving a flat bottom (10) and side walls (11-13), is designed to be almost as broad as long. Ballast tanks are designed in a substantially rectangular field, and are arranged in relation to long and cross-section median lines (15, 15 a) in order that good trimming opportunities are kept.In the lower part's (10) mid-ships, there is a deep well (16) covered with a lattice work. Two side walls (11-12), are shorter than the bottom section's length and are situated at a broadened section at one of the ends of the bottom section, whilst a third side wall (13) is situated at the bottom section's opposite end.Communications tunnels (18, 19) in the bottom section link the various side walls to each other, and pipe leads (35, 36) are situated in the tunnels which surround the well (16) and contain pressure gauges (37 - 42) which are linked to a central instrument which facilitates the balancing of pressure differentiation in the pipe system caused by any listing at the dockside.<IMAGE> |
