PURPOSE:To perform transfer with high efficiency, by encoding picture elements sampled in the main scanning direction after interleaving by a prescribed interval, in transferring a coarse picture. CONSTITUTION:A picture element information encoder 7 is provided after a picture processing section 6 in a facsimile transmission section. The device 7 consists of an encoding mode selecting circuit 8, an interleaving circuit 9 and an encoding circuit 10. The circuit 9 comprises an interleaving circuit A frequency- dividing the picture element information by 1/2 and an interleaving circuit B being a 3-bit decision by majority circuit consisting of a shift register 23, AND circuits 24-26, and an OR circuit 27. The output of the circuits A and B and that of the section 6 are given to encoding mode selection circuit 8, to the control terminal of which an output of a mode selection storage section 11 is given. The output selected at the circuit 8 is given to the circuit 10 to be the output of the encoder 7. |
