Device for driving in fastening means

Devices having replaceable magazines have been developed for processing staples and pin-like fastening means, such as nails. It has become evident, however, that the different behaviours of fastening means causes difficulties as they are driven in. The fastening means are here pressed beneath the impact cutter of the driving-in device by a slide under spring tension and are individually cut off. An attempt has been made with stopping slopes, for example, to prevent the tipping of the staples out of the driving-in direction during the driving-in process. Pin-like fastening means, for example nails, are cut off in the region of the stopping slopes for the staples. The stopping slopes cause the cutting-off edges for nails and pins to be offset, which means that it is frequently no longer possible to cut off only one item faultlessly, i.e. the front nail. This causes problems. To remedy these disadvantages, separate guide grooves are provided for the staples on the one hand and for pin-like fastenings on the other hand.
