PURPOSE:To facilitate the positioning of a light transmissive glass plate and to eliminating the cracks, fissure as well as to facilitate the cleaning the surface of said glass plate, by forming a recessed part at an opning edge of a package and sticking the glass plate into the recessed part. CONSTITUTION:A recessed part is formed at the center of a package 1, and a solid-state image pickup element 5 is set into the recessed part. A stage part 1d having the length L2 and depth t2 which are slightly larger than the length L1 and thickness t1 of a light transmissive glass plate 8' is formed on the end face of the opening of the package 1. An adhesive 9 is coated in the stage 1d to stick the plate 8' there. As a result, L2>L1 and t2>t1 are satisfied, and accordingly the upper face of the plate 8' is set and fixed at a level nearly equal to or slightly lower than the upper face of the package 1 although the thickness of the adhesive 9 is taken into consideration. |
