PURPOSE:To dispense with a spacer ring and facilitate the assembly of a freewheel hub, by supporting balls on the inner circumferential surface of a wheel ring and the tapered surface of the hub and fitting a tapered ring in the hub to tighten the balls to finely adjust them. CONSTITUTION:A tapered ring 9 for supporting balls B in cooperation with the tapered surface 1b of a freewheel hub body 1 is tightly fitted therein by prescribed pressure so that the ring is fixed by knurling provided on its inner circumferential surface. The tapered ring 9 is then tightened for fine adjustment, by a lock nut 10 screw-engaged outside the ring. According to this constitution, the freewheel hub 1 is easily assembled without using a spacer ring, so that the hub lightly rotates without playing. A pawl 6, which is engaged with ratchet teeth 2 on the peripheral surface of the hub body 1 and can swing up and down, is provided on a wheel ring 4. |
