PURPOSE:To improve resolution, by switching polarization axes while shifting the phase for every color and every several frames in the stereoscopic TV using filters, where polarization axes are switched, before the cathode-ray tube. CONSTITUTION:Projection type cathode-ray tubes 1-3 incorporating red, green and blue optical systems, polarization filters 4-6 which can switch polarization angles electrically, and projecion screen 7 are provided. A projected picture is observed by spectacles of left and right polarization axes different from each other. Voltages applied to filters 4, 5 and 6 are so switched that one polarization axis of the spectacles for observation may agree with the polarization axis of the filter when this voltage is applied and that the other polarization axis of spectacles for observation may agree with the polarization axis of the filter when the voltage is not applied. By performing this switching while shifting the phase for every several frames, delay of fall and rise characteristics of filters can be compensated, so that resolution can be improved. |
