The invention relates to a multi-row sowing machine, especially a seed drill, of which the seed insertion elements engaging into the soil are pressed more or less firmly against the soil during the seeding by means of an adjustable prestressing force as a function of the soil state, in order to make the sowing furrows, on the bottom of which the seed grains are deposited. The seed depositing depth has already hitherto been maintained relatively accurately, but without taking into account whether the particular set depositing level adjoins the moisture-carrying capillary soil layer or not. But seed grains need moisture so that they can germinate. The invention guarantees that the furrow bottom (5) adjoins the moisture-carrying capillary soil layer (71), in that, during seeding, the seed insertion elements (16, 160) are set in vertical vibrations by at least one vibration generator (60). As a result of these vertical vibrations of the seed insertion elements (16, 160), the usually relatively loose soil under the furrow bottom (50) is additionally compacted to such an extent that a "capillary bridge" to the lower moisture-carrying soil layer (71) is made. The invention is mainly used for cereal sowing. <IMAGE>
