The present invention relates to novel 4-chloro-1-methyl-2-butynyl carbanilates of the general structural formula <IMAGE> in which Ar denotes the radicals phenyl, 2-chlorophenyl, 3-chlorophenyl, 2-fluorophenyl, 3-fluorophenyl or 2,5-difluorophenyl, which are suitable for use as selective pre-emergence herbicides in the control of wild oat.
