PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal head having a high resolving power and capable of independently controlling recording dots, by using a system in which plural heads provided with large numbers of heating resistors are arranged in such a way that the heating resistors are alternately set and a common electrode is connected to the heating resistors. CONSTITUTION:On a base plate 20, segment electrodes 23 and 24 and a common electrode 25 are formed by screen printing method, etc., and then heating resistors 21 and 22 are formed in such a way as to bridge the segment electrodes 23 and 24 with the common electrode 25, forming two heads H1 and H2. The distance between the heads H1 and H2 corresponds with a subscanning distance (or the moving distance of recording paper), and the respective length corresponds with the width of the recording paper. Also, the heating resistor 22 of the head H2 is arranged alternately with the heating resistor 21 of the head H1. Thus, recording dots can be formed with a density two times as much as one head. |
