A collapsible membrane structure is devised so as to reduce the total volume when the structure is collapsed for such as transportation. The framework comprises a plurality of frames, each frame including rafter members and leg members which are pivotably coupled through hinge blocks which are designed so as to withstand the stresses during the transportation and after erection. Since pivoting of the members is effected substantially at the intersecting points of the straight members, the overall height of the structure is made smaller than those of prior art wherein the members are conventionally bent to form shoulder roundness. Further, for installing or coupling some members, retailing members are designed to reduce the possibility of outwardly directed projections in the membrane structure and attached to appropriate portions of the framework which also facilitate the erection of the structure or attaching of members to the framework.
